About me

Image of Sophie van Wersch

Graduated with honours from the University College Maastricht with a Bachelors in Arts. During university, I focused primarily on Political Studies and minored in Sociology. Nevertheless, I always gravitated towards the tech industry and hoped to start a career there. I began by first teaching myself to program through online platforms while simultaneously working as a tech blogger for SheCanCode. Then in June 2017, I started a three-month full-Stack developer course at the New York Design and Coding Academy based in Amsterdam. Following the course, I had a 6-month traineeship at IBM CIC and have since been working as a full time employee building internal web applications.

My programming skills include: HTML5, CSS, SASS, JavaScript (ES5/ES6), Vue.js, Pug/Jade, Node.js, Express.js, Axios, Swift, & Git & Github.

My other skills include proficient writing and speaking in English, intermediate level Dutch, and I am also a certified Scrum Master with experience in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Taking my love of technology and turning it into words. I began my career in programming by writing articles for a UK based start up called SheCanCode, and later on for IBM CIC's 'Insider' Journal. This also gave me an opporunity to learn as well as providing me a platform to vocalise my passion for gender equality within the tech industry.
